CAPTISS

College of Alice & Peter Tan Student Symposium

 Realise

To appreciate the inherent complexities of social issues, understand the source of stereotypes and recognise how this impacts society’s perception of social issues.

 Reflect

To critique existing perspectives or paradigms on social issues and contemplate previously unexplored ways of thinking.

 Relearn

To integrate alternate perspectives into our present understanding of social issues.

TILT-SHIFT

This year's theme was inspired by tilt-shift photography.

When approaching social issues, our minds are used to forming judgements based on a lens that we have grown comfortable with. By tilting this lens, we explore differing perspectives about the same issues. By shifting this lens, we learn to engage issues from varied critical distances.

Through tilt-shift, we hope participants will leave the symposium with a more nuanced and holistic view of the same issues.
